BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS MONTH
Presented By

The month of March is dedicated to Brain Injury Awareness Month
In the United States, more than 5.3 million children and adults have a brain injury. That is about 1 in 60. Acquired brain injuries (ABI) are those that happen after birth and can result in physical, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive impairments. The primary causes of ABI are trauma, stroke, tumors, degenerative diseases, alcohol and other toxins, and lack of oxygen to the brain.
BFAIR offers quality residential programs for individuals with acquired brain injury in Berkshire County and the Pioneer Valley
We provide enriching experiences to individuals of all abilities and ages through distinctive, individualized, and quality services. As part of our Residential Services, we have 6 homes dedicated to those individuals with ABI. As Director of ABI Residential Services, Christine Meiklejohn states, ‘Most of our residents lived independent lives before their ABI. The services we provide and the way we interact with each resident has to be unique to meet their own needs.”

We are excited to have the opportunity to share brain injury awareness and prevention with our communities. Below is where you can find us this March:
