Intern Spotlight: Emma Lacasse

BFAIR Intern: Emma Lacasse

What made you interested in this internship with BFAIR?

When I saw BFAIR as an option for an internship, I was instantly drawn to it. I love the things that BFAIR does for people. I believe that BFAIR's mission is important and can change thousands of lives. I knew I would love to be a part of this especially because I have family members with disabilities. It is a nice way to educate myself and learn how to help the best I can.

What is something new you’ve learned or a skill you’ve developed during your internship?

I have learned a lot of technical computer skills. I learned how to use a scanner and use different websites like monday.com and iCentrix.com. I am basically a pro at organizing online files now. I furthered my knowledge in applications like Word, Excel, and Teams as I continue to work on Tutorials for those Microsoft Applications. But I have also gained some simple social skills like talking in a meeting or communicating with those around me.

What has been your favorite part of the internship so far?

My favorite part of this internship definitely was when I was working on the Assistive Technology binder. I appreciated the amount of feedback I got on it and had a ton of people's help. We finally got to make it a physical thing located at every BFAIR location. It makes me happy to know that I was a big help in educating and helping people using this binder!

What advice would you give to other students who are thinking about applying for an internship at BFAIR?

The most important piece of advice for students applying for an internship is to be in the right mindset before going to school and coming to work. I think your mindset determines your day, if you have a motivated mindset you can definitely achieve a lot!
