Leadership Updates

Randy Kinnas

Welcome BFAIR's New CEO, Randy Kinnas

With more than 21 years of experience as a nonprofit CEO and over three decades in human services leadership, Randy has built a reputation for strategic vision, collaboration, and organizational growth. Prior to joining BFAIR, he served as COO of the Alliance of MA YMCAs and as CEO of both the Northern Berkshire YMCA and the Pittsfield Family YMCA, leadership that culminated in the successful 2016 merger of the two organizations to create the Berkshire Family YMCA.

Randy holds a Master's Degree in Human Service Administration from Springfield College and further sharpened his leadership skills through Harvard University's Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program.

Throughout his career, Randy has remained committed to building inclusive organizations, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities that improve quality of life for individuals and families, a philosophy captured in his favorite quote: "Be Better, Not Bitter."

Outside of work, Randy is a passionate New England sports fan who enjoys camping with his family and spending time with a good book. He lives in Lee, Massachusetts, with his wife, Lisa, and their four children: Alexis, Tia, Cameron, and Kai.

Theresa Denette

Theresa Denette Named Interim Chief Operating Officer

BFAIR is pleased to announce the appointment of Theresa Denette, MBA, as Interim Chief Operating Officer. A dedicated leader with more than two decades of service to the organization, Denette brings deep operational knowledge, program expertise, and a longstanding commitment to BFAIR's mission of supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.

Denette began her BFAIR career in 2001 as Assistant Program Director for the Day Habilitation Center and was promoted to Program Director the following year, a role she held until 2010. During this time she led program development, oversaw Individual Support Planning and implementation, and supervised and supported staff, laying the groundwork for a career defined by strong leadership and program growth.

In 2016, Denette was promoted to Director of Day Service Operations, overseeing the Day Habilitation Center, Community Based Day Services, Employment Services, and the newly developed ABI–Money Follows the Person service component. Following an organizational restructuring in 2018, she was promoted to Senior Vice President of Day Services and took on oversight of the Quality Assurance department, helping advance the agency's technology, quality, and compliance systems.

In 2022, as BFAIR transitioned its Family & Individual Supports and Adult Family Care programs to a Community Service Program model, Denette's responsibilities expanded to include those programs, Clinical Services, and Day Services, leading to her promotion to Senior Vice President of Operations.

Denette's career in human services began in 1998 as a paraprofessional at Adams Memorial Middle School, where she supported students in the Special Education department and gained early experience with the IEP process. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Westfield State College and earned her MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in January 2022, receiving the Distinguished Scholar Award. She went on to earn a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources from Fitchburg State University in 2024.

Denette also serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition and is a member of the McCann Business Technology Advisory Board. She resides in Clarksburg with her husband and children and enjoys attending her children's sporting events and camping with her family.
